Wrapped in an eighties blanket with a faux eighties pillow

Earlier this week, I discovered the Nation of Language’s Introduction, Presence, and have been on an eighties music binge since. In my mind, songs from the eighties are always juxtaposed with images of Mumbai’s many beer-and-fried-food establishments. Rainy nights, silly conversation, old friends who are now scattered around the world, out of reach. :(

Eighties music (and music inspired by it) always gets me nostalgic: for those beer-and-fried-food establishments of yore, for aircon Sunday afternoons in the summer spent under a blanket, staring out of the window, for tubelights.

Here’s a playlist of eighties songs and a few songs from the last ten-odd years inspired by them. Find it on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
