About me
I’m Akhil Srivatsan, and I’m a storyteller.
Be it as a musician, or when I’m talking about the music I love, or in my novel, or through whatever it is I’m creating today, what I’m trying to do is to share stories.
Now, why some of us want to be storytellers in the first place is something that doesn’t need as much explaining as it did before Instagram became a thing. Or before blogs. In the age of unlimited content it’s something we take for granted.
But several decades ago, when you heard your first story, maybe from daddy or grammy or amma or nani, the purpose of storytelling was altogether different. Your first story existed for the same reason myths were created thousands of years ago. For the listener.
In reality, most stories exist somewhere in between a self-indulgent blog and a patronising oral tradition. They exist in the space between the storyteller and the audience. A good story engages one while staying true to the other.
Those are the kinds of stories I’d like to share with you on Stranger Fiction.
